1) if you maxed him before you got the relevant rookie quest, it doesn't count. You need to get a new copy of the unit and mex the specials again. I know, it's annoying. Maybe your Shanks had some levels up on him before? It sucks, but you need to get another copy and waste time feeding it...

Do read the Tips for New Players. But short answer: first, max your Shanks (evolve, max agai). Then max-LB him. Then feed 49 other Shanks copies + any extras to the evolved one. This should result in 'rainbow' unit - max level, max special, maxl LB, and hopefully, max sockets or close to it.
The first potential ability seems like an error. I will remove it unless anyone figures out what is it for?
I am not sure what is your second question about. Are you asking about the broken (missing) pictures like File:QCK/STR.png ? Or is it about the type field which redirects to stuff like Category:QCK/STR?
It took us a year or so, I know, but we have it now: check Lace for how it looks and works. The parameter is {| | | SwitchEffect = |- |} and it should go before the limit break field. I've also changed Lace captain's ability using normal code - I don't think we need separate tempalte fields for his three captain abilities, they can be just added in this format to the dual units using pretty much normal text.
Fortunately there are so few dual units that we have just what, 10 or less? to update. (Do help)
Did you have any legends? If not, you are probably fine with a new start, old units are generally weak, and new players these days are, I think, given a decent starting captain better than old Luffy (Trafalgar Law Straw Hat-Heart Pirate Alliance). Also, if you have enough time, you may want to consider rerolling for a legend during a Sugo. If you do start a new one, do update us on what the new players get these days...
